When selling my home do I need professional photography?

29th July, 2010

The answer to this question is well and truly YES! Ensuring your home is professionally photographed is critical in ensuring your house is presented as well as it can be online (and in print forms of media) for sale.

Its common knowledge amongst home sellers I encounter these days that the first place buyers go when looking for a home is the internet. Whether that is ljhooker.co.nz, realestate.co.nz or even trademe if your home isn’t photographed well then it simply won’t have a chance.

Have a look for your self online at some of the photography and you will realise that a point and shoot camera these day simply wont cut it. I remember browsing online recently and seeing a photo of a house taken from the road with the wing mirror of the agents car in the photo – shocking!

So who do I use for my professional photography? I recommend open2view to my vendors. They provide a professional service and have the benefit of listing the property on their own website also (www.open2view.co.nz) with good vendor reporting functions and they are wizards with Photoshop if they need to (adding grass or a little blue sky goes along way!)

There are I am sure other photographers who may do a good job also but for about the same charge you get the website thrown in too. Open2view also provide virtual tours, night shots, hi angle photography and floor plans if you wish.

So remember that as a home seller you only get one shot at making a good impression so photography is vital in getting your homes foot in the door with buyers online and in print mediums! Marketing money well spent - Ask you Tauranga real estate agent how you can have the photography.
